Papaya Leaves, the Most Effective for Dengue Fever

Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted by mosquitoes that has spread rapidly. This disease can cause flu-like symptoms and in severe cases, can damage the lungs, liver or heart, which causes death. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there is no specific treatment for dengue fever, but early diagnosis and access to appropriate medical care can reduce the mortality rate to below 1%.
Meanwhile, there are several home remedies that can be used to relieve symptoms of dengue fever. One popular natural remedy that is widely used is papaya leaves. In fact, research has shown that papaya leaves are effective in treating dengue fever. A number of studies published in the Annals of Medical and Health Science Research report that papaya leaf extract can help treat dengue fever.
Reporting from Times Now News, for example, in one study based in Sri Lanka, researchers found that dengue fever patients were given 2 doses of papaya leaf extract at 8-hour intervals experiencing a significant increase in platelet counts and white blood cell counts.
A review in BMJ stated that a large number of biomedical studies had been carried out on the effects of carica papaya leaf extract on dengue fever, including randomized controlled clinical trials. It was said that no significant side effects were reported after this treatment and toxicological studies ruled out the effects of toxins even at higher doses. The report in the journal added that studies have found many beneficial effects of carica papaya leaf extract, including a reduction in the duration of fever, hospital stay, and most importantly fluid leakage and conversion of dengue to dengue hemorrhagic fever.
The experts also found that eating green vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, and other immune enhancing foods can be useful in relieving symptoms of dengue fever. Meanwhile, how to use papaya leaves for the treatment of dengue fever can be done by washing papaya leaves thoroughly with clean water and cutting into small pieces. Take 50 g of papaya leaves, 50 ml of boiled cold water, and 25 g of sugar. Add all these ingredients then mash well until smooth. Save papaya leaves for about 30 minutes. Squeeze the papaya leaf pulp by hand to extract the juice. Papaya leaf extract can be stored in the compartment under the refrigerator (about 4 degrees Celsius) for 24 hours. Make sure you shake the bottle well before drinking it. Papaya leaf juice extract can be consumed from the first day of fever for optimal results.
According to the guidelines given in BMJ, papaya leaf juice extract can be used as syrup and consumed as much as 30 ml three times a day before meals for adults and 5-10 ml three times a day for children until the patient is fully recovered.
