not many people know about the disease transmitted by cats

A circular letter from the Surabaya Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS) was published on social media. The contents of the message mentioned the campus environment must be free of cats.
"Circulating about the cat-free campus at ITS. I don't know what the reason behind it is. Maybe because of overpopulation due to the cats they will not be routed and / or thrown into the campus area. Please help friends to argue! #ITSSurabaya," wrote the @KuchinkLine account.
I wonder what the reason for the circular was made. It could be to reduce the risk of diseases caused by cats. Although most cat infections only affect cats, some diseases can be transmitted from cats to humans or are often called zoonoses.
Although the possibility of humans contracting zoonosis is still low, individuals with low or susceptible immune diseases including infants, children, and the elderly are very susceptible. The following diseases that can be transmitted from cats to humans are quoted from the Cornell Feline Health Center.

1. Cat scratch disease
Cat scratch disease or CSD is a disease caused by the bacterium Bartonella henselae, which can be carried in the saliva of an infected cat and in cat fleas. As the name suggests, this bacterial infection is usually transmitted from cats to humans through scratches, although it can also be transmitted through bite wounds and when cats lick someone's open wounds.
For humans, avoiding scratches and bites for example, by not allowing children to play with cats, washing their hands after playing with cats, controlling fleas, and keeping cats indoors reduces the risk of CSD.
2. Toxoplasmasis
Toxoplasmosis is caused by the protozoan parasite, Toxoplasma gondii. People with weakened immune systems and babies whose mothers are infected during pregnancy can develop severe diseases from this parasite.
Toxoplasmosis in adults can cause symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, fatigue, sore throat and swollen lymph nodes.
3. Scabies or scabies
Cat mites or fleas can be transmitted from infected cats to humans. They hide in the skin and cause itchy lesions. To reduce the risk, cat owners must be diligent in bathing or caring for cats and often clean their habitat.
4. Ringworm
Ringworm or fungal infections can spread to the skin layers of cats and nails. Humans are generally infected by direct contact with sick cats.
This infection can cause rashes and itching that feels hot and painful. It can even cause the skin to feel like scaly and blistering. To reduce environmental contamination, enclose infected cats in one room until they are free of infection then clean the house thoroughly.
